Cosmos first to market with Fathom

Cosmos Tours & Cruises is the first UK tour operator to package specialist social impact brand, Fathom to the Dominican Republic, providing the easiest way for agents to sell this new concept to customers.

Priced from £1675pp (25 August 2016 departure), the package includes return flights to Miami, a three night pre-cruise stay at the Aloft Hotel South Beach, local excursions in Miami, seven night full board cruise aboard Fathom’s Adonia with all social impact travel activities and overseas transfers included. Departures are available fortnightly throughout August to November 2016 with 2017 departures due on sale shortly.

Fathom, the newest cruise brand within Carnival Corporation & Plc provides travellers with a valuable and meaningful travel experience to improve the lives of people living in local communities, time to explore the tropical island’s mountains and beaches, learn about a different culture from local people as well as relax aboard Fathom’s Adonia.

Working with local community development organisations on the island to understand the needs of local residents, a wide number of projects focus on improving economic development, education and the environment on the island.  Depending on an individual’s interests and skills, travellers will have the opportunity to get involved in the projects they feel most strongly about by working as a team alongside local residents and partner organisations to provide a meaningful contribution.

Run over a three-day period, Impact activities include conversational groups with local students to help improve their English and increase chances of finding a well paid job, helping a successful women’s cooperative with chocolate preparation and packaging or taking part in a creative workshop for local students to enjoy arts, crafts and drama in a scenic mountain setting.

Fathom’s Adonia, sailing from Miami to Amber Cove, Puerto Plata on the north coast of the Dominican Republic provides a stylish and comfortable base with a range of facilities.  Exciting shore excursions include deep sea fishing, reef snorkelling and canopy zip-line adventures. During the sailing to the Dominican Republic, on-board activities and cultural orientation will prepare travellers for their impact experience on the island.
