Croatia reports impressive rise in UK tourist arrivals

UK overnight stays in Croatia have risen 36% to date this year, according to the latest data issued by the Croatian National Tourist Board.

Between January and April this year, Croatia recorded 28,080 arrivals and 97,111 overnight stays from the UK, compared to 21,292 arrivals and 70,952 overnights stays in the same period last year.

The total number of overnight stays in Croatia in the same period in 2016 reached 3,352,222, which is 6.1 per cent higher than in 2015 (3,158,476).

Croatia’s coastal regions remain the most popular destinations. During the first four months of 2016, the Adriatic regions of Croatia recorded 935,445 tourist arrivals, a 6.7 percent increase compared to the previous-year period, which means 69.2 per cent of all visitors went to experience the coastal regions.

The rolling hills of Istria was the most popular destination in the Adriatic, receiving 295,094 tourist arrivals. Coming in second was continental Croatia which attracted 415,855 tourists. The country’s capital, Zagreb, placed third with 251,094 tourist arrivals.
