Crystal to launch two world cruises for first time

For the first time in Crystal Cruises‘ history, both of its ships – Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity – will embark on a world cruises in 2018.

The company, which is being acquired by Genting Hong Kong, will embark in two concurrent world cruise routes in January 2018. Both ships will simultaneously arriving in Sydney on 17 February, allowing Crystal to offer a series of combined itineraries as passengers switch vessels.

Ranging from 97 to 129 days, the world voyages will travel to a combined 111 destinations in 45 countries, featuring 16 maiden calls and 50 overnight stops.

The 2018 programme will mark Crystal Symphony’s first full world cruise since 2003, while Crystal Serenity will be embarking on its 15th global expedition. And under the combined itineraries, passengers will be able to start their journey on the Crystal Symphony and then switch to Crystal Serenity for a journey through Asia and India, or set sail on Crystal Serenity before joining Crystal Symphony for a South Pacific route to Miami.

Under its recently-announced acquisition plans, Genting Hong Kong said it is planning to add a third ship to Crystal’s fleet, and it has now been confirmed that the new vessel is due to join the company’s fleet in 2018. More details of the third Crystal ship and its itineraries are expected to be revealed in the second quarter of 2015, once the acquisition is completed.
