Hilton has announced the signing of a management agreement with Abriz to open Hotel Saski Krakow, Curio Collection by Hilton.
For more than 200 years, Hotel Saski Krakow has welcomed guests to its grand concert hall. International composers like Franz Liszt and Johannes Brahms have already performed at the hotel, which was in the middle of Krakow’s emergence as Poland’s cultural capital.
Set in the heart of Krakow’s old town, adjacent to Main Square, the property will be converted from one of the city’s most celebrated hotels to Poland’s first Curio Collection by Hilton in 2021.
“The cultural significance of this property makes it a great location”
Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president of development at EMEA, said: “Curio Collection by Hilton is a portfolio of one-of-a-kind hotels and resorts handpicked for their unique character and history. The cultural significance of this property makes it a great location to open the country’s first Curio Collection hotel, and will offer spectacular accommodation to the more than 13 million annual visitors to Krakow.”
In order to return the building to its prime form, Hilton ordered a multi-million dollar refurbishment to its 113 guest rooms, public areas and concert hall, which will be available to guests and residents for private hire.
Construction is due to start later this year and once open, Hotel Saski Krakow will feature a restaurant and bar, a swimming pool, spa and fitness centre, and a business centre for corporate travellers.
“The demand for a hotel of this calibre is clear”
Jan Pilch, president at Abriz, said: “Krakow and the surrounding region’s infrastructure is continuing to improve, and with record-breaking numbers of people visiting the city, the demand for a hotel of this calibre is clear. We’re proud to open Poland’s first Curio Collection by Hilton hotel and we cannot wait to begin welcoming guests in 2021.”
Krakow’s Old Town has iconic churches, museums and Rynek Glowny — Europe’s largest market square. Hilton has operated in Krakow for nearly 20 years and Hotel Saski Krakow will be Hilton’s fifth hotel in the city, joining DoubleTree by Hilton Krakow Hotel & Convention Centre, Hampton by Hilton Krakow, Hilton Garden Inn Krakow and Hilton Garden Inn Krakow Airport.
“Hotel Saski Krakow is the perfect property for Curio Collection”
Mark Nogal, global head of Curio Collection by Hilton, said: “Having recently celebrated the opening of our 60th Curio Collection hotel, we are excited to introduce the brand to Poland as we continue to expand our portfolio of handpicked, distinctive hotels and resorts around the world. Hotel Saski Krakow is the perfect property for Curio Collection, offering travellers the authentic experience they crave.”
