Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic have announced changes to their schedules between Heathrow to Atlanta and Los Angeles.
Delta will begin operating one of Virgin Atlantic’s twice daily services from Heathrow to LA from 26 October, while Virgin Atlantic will take over one of Delta’s thrice daily services between London and Atlanta.
The two airlines will codeshare on each of the routes too.
“It’s great to see how our partnership with Delta is already proving fruitful to our customers,” said Craig Kreeger, Virgin Atlantic CEO. “In less than a year we will have co-located key business routes, delivered schedule changes to benefit our customers and provided enhanced experiences to our frequent fliers, who gain from reciprocal lounge access and the ability to earn and burn across both carriers. This is just the beginning of demonstrating how a true joint venture between airlines should be operated to benefit customers.”
Delta has also finalised an agreement with Travelport to reacquire data and intellectual property rights to its passenger and flight operations systems. Under the agreement Delta will have direct control of the systems although Travelport will run the infrastructure. The transition will be in effect from 1 July but will not require a migration.
