In the wake of the uncertainty surrounding Brexit and the fall in the value of the pound against the Euro, many Brits are planning staycations in 2017.

Diamond Rail Holidays has added a range of new trips to meet anticipated demand.

Tim Fleming, sales and business development manager for Diamond Rail Holidays said: “As far as Brexit is concerned, it’s still too early to say what the effect on travel is going to be, but the less favourable exchange rate certainly means that our European suppliers and services are getting more expensive and this is likely to impact on the cost of holidays. The market for UK trips is currently very strong, especially in the summer months, and we expect that our new programme of UK rail breaks will be very popular.”

Diamond Rail Holidays’ new collection of UK holidays by rail includes seven itineraries departing between April and October 2017, all incorporating journeys on some of the country’s most historic and picturesque railways. New tours include:

  • Little Trains of Norfolk’ a five day tour priced from £379 per person that includes travel on the Bure Valley Railway, the Bittern line, the Mid-Norfolk Railway and the Poppy Line, as well as a cruise of the Norfolk Broads on the Southern Comfort Mississippi Paddle Boat.
  • The five day ‘Lake District Mountain Express’ tour, priced from £499 per person, which includes journeys aboard the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Steam Railway, the Cumbrian Coast Railway, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway and lake cruises on Windermere and Coniston Water.
  • Settle to Carlisle Railway & Yorkshire Steama five day tour priced from £429 per person, including a trip on one of the world’s greatest heritage railways, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, as well as journeys on the Settle-Carlisle Railway and Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. The itinerary also includes a visit to Whitby and Wensleydale cheese tasting.

All prices are based on two adults sharing, including four nights’ half board accommodation, coach transfers, excursions and services of a tour manager. Travel to the starting point of the tour is not included.

Diamond Rail Holidays has also announced that following the successful launch of training modules with OTT (Online Travel Training) for sister brand The River Cruise Line, agents registered with OTT will now be able to access dedicated training on all Diamond Rail Holidays’ range of products, including the new UK tours.

Special offers are also available on a number of Diamond Rail’s European tours for 2017, when booked by the end of December. These include £150 per person off the 10 day Highlights of Corsica itinerary (the operator’s most popular tour in 2016) and £100 per person off both the eight day Jungfrau Express tour and the seven day Lake Geneva & the Mont Blanc Express tour.

Agents interested in registering for access to any of the above should contact agency sales manager, Rebecca Brett, for more information on 0844 544 7581 or e-mail rebeccabrett@diamondhols.co.uk.
