Hong Kong Disneyland has unveiled its latest visitor attraction, based on Marvel’s Iron Man.

The new Iron Man Experience becomes the first of its kind in the world, and takes guests on a journey through the world of Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, including a tour of the Stark Expo and a virtual flight over Hong Kong.

“We are always pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation so that our guests can step into the magical worlds of their favourite stories and meet their most beloved characters,” said Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, who travelled to Hong Kong to launch the attraction.

“We’re thrilled to be adding the high-tech, action-packed universe of Marvel to Hong Kong Disneyland, and we’ll continue building on it as we move into the resort’s next phase of expansion.”

Located in the Tomorrowland area of the park, Iron Man Experience allows guests to visit four exhibition halls within the Stark Expo – the Hall of Legacy, Hall of Protection, Hall of Energy and Hall of Mobility – which feature a range of exhibits from Captain America’s prototype shield to Iron Man’s suit. Guests will then take a 3D flight simulator ride over the Hong Kong skyline, from the downtown skyscrapers to Tsing Ma Bridge, Victoria Harbour and the city’s mountain ranges, whilst battling against the enemy forces of Hydra.

Guests can then buy Iron Man merchandise from the new Expo Shop, and sample a range of Iron Man-themed F&B options at the resort hotels.

The launch of the Iron Man Experience comes at a time of major expansion at Hong Kong Disneyland. Plans were recently announced for a major investment in several new areas, including those based on other Marvel characters.

This follows the opening of three themed areas – Toy Story Land, Grizzly Gulch and Mystic Point – between 2011 and 2013. In addition, the resort’s third hotel, the 750-room Disney Explorers Lodge, will launch in the first half of this year.
