Dream Cruises, the new upscale Asian cruise line, has revealed plans for its first homeport season outside China.
In December 2017, the Genting Dream cruise ship will commence a year-round season of sailings from Singapore. Itineraries will include calls at multiple Southeast Asian ports throughout 2018, including destinations in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
Thatcher Brown, president of Dream Cruises, said he selected Singapore due to its position as a “well-developed travel hub for the Asian region, with an excellent cruise and tourism infrastructure”.
“Singapore’s prime geographic location also makes it the ideal homeport Genting Dream to cruise to popular as well as new ASEAN destinations,” said Brown. “We are pleased to support Singapore’s steadfast commitment to the tourism industry, as we cater to a growing number of sophisticated Singaporean and broader Asian Pacific fly-cruise vacationers.”
Launched late last year, Genting Dream was designed specifically for the needs of the Asian market, including a large duty-free shopping area, a large spa and multiple F&B outlets.
During its Singapore deployment, the ship will operate a series of two- and five-night cruises around Southeast Asia. The longer voyages will include a Singapore-Kuala Lumpur-Penang-Phuket itinerary and a Singapore-Surabaya-Bali option, and passengers can also combine these to create a 12-night cruise holiday. And from April to October 2018, new itineraries will be added including destinations in the South China and Java seas.
The arrival of Genting Dream will increase the number of available cruise days in Singapore by more than 20% in 2018.

Genting Dream launched in 2016, becoming first ever ship for Dream Cruises – the new upmarket sister brand to Star Cruises. Since its launch it has operated cruises from Guangzhou and Hong Kong, to destinations including Hainan Island and Vietnam.
