Dusit International‘s Chinese expansion strategy has taken a major step forward, with the signing of the company’s first ever hotels in Shanghai.
The Thai hotel group’s Chinese joint venture, Dusit Fudu Hotels & Resorts, has secured two new hotel projects in China’s financial capital, including a luxury Dusit Thani hotel and China’s first Dusit Princess serviced residences.
“We are thrilled to manage two properties in Shanghai,” said Lim Boon Kwee, president of Dusit Fudu.
“Dusit Fudu was created to bring the hallmark gracious Thai hospitality… to the Chinese market. As we have grown to cover 15 cities throughout the country, we are proud to have not one, but two projects in Shanghai to demonstrate the significance of the Dusit brand on a growing scale,” he added.
The first property to open will be the Dusit Princess Serviced Residence Shanghai Xuhui. Set to launch in the Xuhui district of the city in summer 2016, the property will feature 112 apartments, ranging from 36 to 78m², plus a restaurant, indoor swimming pool and a health club.
Then in 2019, the new Dusit Thani Hotel Shanghai Zhabei will open its doors in the Zhabei district of the city, which is home to the Shanghai Railway Station. The upscale hotel will offer 215 rooms and suites, two restaurants, a lobby lounge, rooftop swimming pool with pool bar, and a conference centre.
Dusit now operates two hotels in China, but it has significant expansion plans in the country, with approximately 15 projects in the pipeline.
