easyJet has introduced a new online booking capability for travel agents with Amadeus.

The low-cost carrier has become the first to become a ‘light ticketing’ carrier with the technology company with agents eventually able to book the airline with the same booking flow as traditional carriers.

Amadeus will combine traditional shopping, booking and back office flows with real-time fares and a full ancillary offering through easyJet’s XML. For agents it will mean a more streamlined search and workflow and integrated sales reporting.

“easyJet’s aim is to deliver value and efficiency to business travel agents and their corporate clients by making it easier to search, book and sell easyJet’s great value flights. Working with travel agents in the most effective way is fundamental to our strategy of servicing the higher yield business travel market and our move to become a light ticketing carrier within Amadeus is a key step in driving adoption and bookings from agents,” said Andrew Hodges, director for sales, distribution and business at easyJet.

The two have been working together since 2007 when easyJet opened up its sales to business travel agents, which also included Travelport’s Galileo GDS.
