Eurowings has confirmed it will launch flights to Tehran in March 2016.
The airline will then connect North Rhine Westphalia and, with feeder connections, a large number of other airports to the capital of Iran once a week in April and twice a week from May onwards.
The airline will fly the route on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with flights departing in the evenings shortly after 21.00.
In each case, the return flights to Cologne/Bonn will take off from Imam Khomeini International Airport on the respective following day at around 04.00 local time.
The route will be operated by an Airbus A330 in long-haul configuration.
