Lufthansa budget airline division Eurowings will launch direct flights from Vienna/Schwechat to London Stansted and Barcelona tomorrow. It will follow the new routes with flights to Palma de Mallorca on Tuesday.
The routes are being serviced by A320-200 aircraft. From March 2016 Eurowings Europe flight operations, which was founded as EWAT GmbH in June, will commence. The 2016 summer flight plan with new connections from Vienna to Alicante and Valencia in Spain, to Bastia on the French island of Corsica and to Faro (Portugal) will be serviced by two Airbus A320-200 planes from Eurowings Europe’s new flight operations.
Max Kownatzki, former Board Member for Strategy at Qantas’ Jetstar Airlines Group in Australia, and Dieter Watzak-Helmer, formerly the training manager for Austrian Airlines, have been named as Eurowings’ European managers.
From March 2016 the development of Eurowings Europe flight operations foresees a fleet expansion of up to one aircraft per month. By December 2016 the fleet will expand to up to ten aircraft and by December 2017 up to 20 aircraft.
