A new round-the-world fare has been launched by oneworld that offers travel solely within the Southern Hemisphere.
The new option has been enabled by the recent launch of LATAM Airlines’ services by between Sao Paulo and Johannesburg, which marked the first direct link between South America and Africa and made a complete circumnavigation of the globe south of the equator possible for the first time.
Following the Sao Paulo-Johannesburg flight, passengers can fly with Qantas from the South African city to Sydney, before continuing with Qantas to Santiago. An optional stop in New Zealand is also available. Passengers can then travel back from Santiago to Sao Paulo with LATAM, or continue to other destinations in the airline’s South American network.
oneworld’s new round-the-world fare is available for sale from select countries in the Southern Hemisphere, including Australia, Brazil, Chile, South Africa and New Zealand. Economy class fares start from approximately US$3,200.
