Garuda Indonesia has introduced its ‘Immigration on Board’ service on its Shanghai–Jakarta flights.
Marking the launch of the scheme in China, the new service will see two immigration officers issue visa-on-arrival to passengers prior to their arrival in Indonesia. This enables them to bypass immigration queues at Jakarta’s Soekharno-Hatta International Airport. To use the service, passengers will first have to purchase a visa-on-arrival voucher at Garuda’s check-in counters at Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport.
“The launch of Immigration on Board will hopefully ensure passengers from Shanghai a pleasant travel experience when visiting Jakarta and other cities in Indonesia. Shanghai is one of the destinations that have a huge market potential for Garuda Indonesia,” said Garuda’s director of service, Faik Fahmi.
Following the addition of Shanghai-Jakarta route, Garuda now offers onboard immigration services on seven routes, including Tokyo–Jakarta, Seoul–Jakarta, Sydney–Jakarta, Tokyo–Bali, Osaka-Bali and Sydney–Bali.
