Genting Hong Kong recently invited 150 students from four Taiwan-based colleges to attend the ‘Star Cruises Open House’ onboard the SuperStar Aquarius cruise ship.

The 11 May initiative was intended to give students of tourism and hospitality institutions in the region the chance to gain an understanding of the cruise industry.

Students from Fu Jen Catholic University, Chungyu Institute of Technology, Ming Chuan University and Kainan University took part in the event. This follows the recent open day onboard the Star Pisces, which invited 100 students from four Hong Kong-based colleges.

The initiative will be expanded to the SuperStar Libra in Malaysia and SuperStar Virgo in Singapore later this year.

“As a leading tourism and hospitality enterprise in Asia Pacific, we are glad to be in a position to share our wealth of experience and insights with tourism students in the region. We hope they will gain a valuable out-of-classroom understanding of hospitality,” said Vivian Sim, Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications & PR for Genting Hong Kong.

“A better informed workforce will contribute to the healthy growth of the cruise industry. We believe that the Open House initiative will inspire students to look at the industry with a keen perspective and hope to attract even more talented candidates into our growing industry,” she added.

The students toured the 51,039-tonne SuperStar Aquarius before attending presentations by Genting Hong Kong’s management.
