Global Travel Group lands in Dubai

The Global Travel Group Conference 2016 delegation has landed in Dubai and has already embarked on a three-day action-packed itinerary of business and leisure activities.
Delegates, including travel agents, top suppliers and key members of the travel trade press, arrived in Dubai on Sunday (May 22), courtesy of Emirates and Qantas, and have already made waves at Atlantis, The Palm, where the business sessions will take place from 24-25 May.
Conference-goers have been given a good introduction to Dubai having taken part in a raft of experiences, from golf and indoor skiing, to luxurious spa treatments, a comprehensive city tour and a day at the resort’s very own water park, Aquaventure.
Day one of the business sessions (Tuesday 24 May) will see Dubai-based speakers such as Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Tourism and Iain Andrew, divisional senior vice president, travel, dnata, take to the stage.
An ‘Industry Insight’ panel featuring Andrew Botterill, CEO, B2B, dnata Travel Europe; Andy Stark, managing director, The Global Travel Group; and Lisa McAuley, commercial director, Silversea Cruises will be another day one highlight.
Technology-focused sessions will be run by Oliver Yeates and Sam Gadsy of Clicky Media, who will tell agents how to increase web traffic via mobile; Bruce Martin of Ginger Juice, whose address is entitled ‘How to win more customers through Facebook’; and Darren Hepburn of NewZapp, who will focus on email marketing.
Kyp Charalambous, international leisure sales director, Atlantis, The Palm, will also provide delegates of an overview of this popular mega resort on The Palm Jumeirah, a manmade island off the Dubai coast.
Day two panellists will represent Myriad Travel, Your Travel, PST Travel and Honeymoon Dreams, while keynotes will be given by Nick Hughes, sales & marketing director, Attraction World; Andy Harmer, vice president of operations, CLIA; and guest speaker Jo Fairley, co-founder of the organic chocolate company, Green & Blacks.
The conference’s afternoon sessions involve business ‘speed dating’ between agents and suppliers.
