Hainan Airlines has launched its first ever international services using its Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
On 26 November 2013, the airline flew the new fuel-efficient aircraft to the US city of Chicago for the first time, marking the start of a new four-times-a-week service.
Flights will now operate every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, departing Beijing at 1320 and arriving at Chicago O’Hare International Airport at 1255. The return service takes off from the US city at 1425, arriving back into Beijing’s Capital International Airport at 18:20 the next day.
Hainan Airlines’ B787 Dreamliner comes equipped with 213 seats in two classes – 36 in business class and 177 in economy.
The Chinese airline took delivery of its first Dreamliners earlier this summer, and has since deployed them on high volume domestic routes from Beijing to destinations including Haikou, Hangzhou, Kunming and Changsha.
But now, Hainan Airlines plans to roll out the new aircraft across more trans-Pacific routes, including those connecting Beijing with Seattle and Toronto, as well as brand new destinations.
In total, Hainan Airlines has ordered 10 B787-8 Dreamliners.
