Hainan Airlines will launch its second direct route to Belgium next year, following the signing of a new deal with Brussels Airport.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was penned in Beijing on 31 October and will lead to the Chinese carrier launching non-stop flights from Shanghai to Brussels in 2017. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel.

This year marks the 45th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium, and the 10th anniversary of the launch of Hainan Airlines’ Beijing-Brussels route.

Brussels will become the airline’s first European destination served from Shanghai.
