Hainan Airlines will launch the first ever direct flights between China and the Canadian city of Calgary this summer.
Commencing on 20 June 2016, the new Beijing-Calgary route will be operated three times a week using a two-class Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
Flights will depart the Chinese capital every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 1600 and arrive in Calgary at 1305 the same day, having crossed the International Date Line. The return flights will then leave at 1505 on the same days of the week, and arrive back in Beijing at 1710 the following day.
“Calgary is the second city in Canada that Hainan Airlines will serve, having launched Toronto to Beijing in 2010. This route will further enhance cross cultural and economic exchanges between China and Canada, and will provide excellent service for our valued passengers,” said Hainan Airlines’ vice president, Hou Wei.
The airline added that “attractive” fares will be offered to other Chinese cities, such as Shanghai, Xi’an, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Guangzhou, for passengers transiting in Beijing.
Calgary International Airport is a gateway to the Canadian Rocky Mountains and the province of Alberta. It is currently connected to Asia via Air Canada’s flights from Tokyo Narita and Korean Air’s seasonal service from Seoul.
