Jet Airways has modernised its in-flight offerings with the launch of a wireless entertainment streaming service.
Using the new ‘JetScreen’ service, passengers can now stream a range of video and audio content directly on their own electronic devices, such mobile phones, tablets and laptops, onboard the Indian carrier’s domestic and short-haul international flights.
Initially, JetScreen has been introduced on five Boeing 737 aircraft, with plans to expand it to the airline’s entire B737 fleet in future.
“In-flight entertainment is a key element of Jet Airways’ full-service experience. Our selection of the best entertainment content across genres is aimed at enriching the inflight experience of our guests,” said Gaurang Shetty, whole-time director of Jet Airways.
“Streaming of content on personal devices has become extremely popular globally, and we are confident that this initiative will appeal to all our guests especially the millennials who prefer to access content on the move.”
JetScreen features 225 hours of IFE content including Hollywood and Bollywood movies, TV shows, music, games and children’s programmes.
The airline said the roll-out marks the “first step in Jet Airways’ plan to eventually transform its in-flight entertainment experience into a fully-fledged, broadband-enabled Wi Fi connectivity”. This will eventually allow passengers on all Jet flights to surf the internet, send and receive email, and access social media and instant messaging sites while at 30,000 feet.
