United Airlines will add the Boeing 777-300ER to its fleet next year, and Hong Kong has been selected as the first long-haul destination for the new twin-aisle jet.

The aircraft will enter service in Q1 2017, featuring United’s latest long-haul cabin design and its brand new United Polaris business class seats.

Following an initial deployment on the domestic route between Newark and San Francisco, United will start to deploy the B777 on long-haul flights from San Francisco to Hong Kong on 25 March 2017, replacing the B747-400 currently being used on the route.

United’s B777-300ER aircraft will offer 366 seats in three classes. The brand new United Polaris business class cabin will feature 60 flat-bed seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, all with direct aisle access and “Do Not Disturb” signs. The cabin also features a marble-topped bar.

There are also 102 premium economy seats in a 3-4-3 layout and 204 economy classes seats in a 3-4-3 configuration, and all passengers are offered universal power outlets, USB ports and in-flight Wi-Fi.

“Our 777-300ER fleet represents a new era in premium air travel,” said Julia Haywood, United’s executive vice president & chief commercial officer. “With United Polaris business class we are providing reimagined in-flight dining, new amenities, the first United Polaris lounge… and now this custom designed seat, all of which make for a tailored experience that prioritises comfort and sleep.”

United has ordered a total of 14 B777-300ER, all of which are expected to be delivered in 2017.
