The Thai capital continues to be the main destinations of choice for travellers from India with the number of meeting and wedding groups, despite the on-going political unrest in the city.

Tourism Authority of Thailand’s New Delhi office reported that a 85-person meeting from an Indian IT company is scheduled to go ahead in Bangkok and Pattaya from 23-26 January 2014, followed by two different group events scheduled during the same period from 24-27 January – a wedding with 200 guests at Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort and Spa and a 130-person event from the Wells Sargo group. The month of February will see three wedding taking place in Bangkok and Hua Hin as well as a conference by a Indian radio station.

“While it is normal for Indian tourists to make last minute bookings, this positive development shows that Indian travellers still see Thailand as a safe destination for travel,” a spokesperson from TAT’s Mumbai office said in a press release.
