Vistara, Singapore Airlines’ new Indian carrier, has decided to implement Amadeus’ comprehensive suite of airline IT solutions, Altéa.
The Delhi-based carrier will use the Altéa Suite to power its reservations, inventory management, airport departure control systems, accounting and revenue management processes. This will put Vistara’s IT systems in line with those of parent company, SIA.
“Vistara is set to transform the Indian aviation landscape and we are extremely pleased to partner with Amadeus,” said Phee Teik Yeoh, CEO of Vistara. “Our technology partnership with Amadeus will be a key differentiator offering advanced features and an integrated platform for our customers across multiple channels including mobile and web.”
For Amadeus, Vistara’s decision to adopt the Altéa Suite marks a major milestone, as it becomes the first Indian carrier to do so.
“I would like to warmly welcome Vistara into the growing Amadeus Altéa community,” said Julia Sattel, Amadeus’ senior vice president of airline IT. “At Amadeus we are committed to connecting, serving and managing the needs of both our customers and the evolving 21st Century traveller. At the same time I would like to place on record how pleased we are to sign an agreement which marks the first airline in India to adopt our Altéa solution.”
The Amadeus Altéa Suite is already used by more than 120 airlines worldwide, including several of SIA’s partners in the Star Alliance. Hazem Hussein, executive vice president of airline commercial at Amadeus Asia Pacific, said he believes the Indian aviation industry could be a significant growth area for new IT solutions.
“There is a huge opportunity for full service carriers like Vistara to revolutionise Indian air travel with technology as the key differentiator,” said Hussein. “In today’s fiercely competitive aviation industry, technology can be the make or break difference for airlines. We are proud that Vistara has chosen Amadeus as its founding technology partner.”
Vistara, which is a joint venture between SIA and Tata Sons, is expected to commence commercial operations by the end of this year.
