Low-cost carrier IndiGo carried almost four in 10 passengers on domestic air routes in India in the third quarter of 2016.

According to the latest data from the country’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), IndiGo commanded a domestic market share of 39.9% in the July-September quarter, up from 38.4% in Q2 2016.

Jet Airways and JetLite carried a combined 19.0% of passengers, making it India’s second largest domestic airline, followed by Air India (14.7%) and SpiceJet (12.3%). Vistara and AirAsia India carried 6.3% and 5.7% of passengers respectively.

SpiceJet led the way in terms of average load factor in September 2016, filling 93.5% of its domestic seats, ahead of GoAir (89.4%), AirAsia (82.8%) and IndiGo (82.1%).

In total, 8.23 million passengers took a domestic flight in India in September 2016, up 23.2% year-on-year.
