IndiGo has announced to increase its frequency between Muscat and Mumbai to seven weekly flights.
The new flights will come into effect from 16 June 2013. The low cost carrier started its flights to Oman in October 2011 with four weekly flights. The flight will reach Muscat from Mumbai at 2130 hours and will depart for Mumbai at 2245 hours.
Sources told the Times of Oman that IndiGo is also considering flights to New Delhi and a South Indian destination by the end of this year. “We will soon announce the destinations,” a senior IndiGo official was quoted.
According to an official from Oman Airports Management Company, the increase in the number of flights will contribute to a surge in the number of travellers through Muscat International Airport and will provide more options for travellers between the cities of Muscat and Mumbai.
Mumbai is the third biggest destination at Muscat International Airport in terms of passenger numbers with 400,398 passengers travelling on the Muscat-Mumbai route in 2012.
