Japan has approved the use of Gogo’s in-flight Wi-Fi solutions in the country.
The company, which last year signed a contract to equip Japan Airlines’ aircraft with Wi-Fi and connectivity solutions, has now received certification from the Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) to operate its Ku-Satellite system on JAL’s Boeing 777-200 aircraft. This will pave the way for JAL to install Gogo’s wireless in-flight entertainment service across its entire domestic fleet.
“This is a major milestone for Gogo and a big step in clearing the way for connectivity service on JAL service,” said Michael Small, Gogo’s president & CEO.
“We are proud to offer a consistent global connectivity experience anywhere our customers fly; whether it’s on regional aircraft, domestic mainline aircraft or these Ku-equipped 777s that travel around the world.”
Gogo’s in-flight Wi-Fi system has also been approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
