Jet Airways has signed a new codeshare partnership with Vietnam Airlines, to offer greater connectivity between India and Vietnam.
Under the new agreement, Jet will place its ‘9W’ code on Vietnam Airlines’ flights from Bangkok and Singapore to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. In turn, Vietnam Airlines will place its ‘VN’ code on Jet’s services from Bangkok to Mumbai and Delhi, and from Singapore to Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.
The new codeshare services were launched on 4 August 2014.
“This codeshare agreement is a demonstration of the value of the partnership between the two strategic partners,” said Duong Tri Thanh, vice president of Vietnam Airlines.
“We shall make all possible effort to maximise the opportunities offered to our combined network in order to bring the most convenience to our valued customers who travel from India to Vietnam.”
The agreement comes ahead of the launch of Jet Airways’ first ever services to Vietnam later this year. In November, the Indian carrier is planning to commence services from both Delhi and Mumbai to Ho Chi Minh City, via Bangkok.
No airline currently operates direct flights between India and Vietnam.
