Jetstar has launched Boeing 787 Dreamliner flights to Phuket.
The Australian low-cost carrier commenced direct Dreamliner flights from Sydney to Phuket on Monday 3 February 2014, and will also launch the aircraft on the Melbourne-Phuket route later this month.
The move makes Jetstar the first airline to operate the fuel-efficient Dreamliner to the popular Thai resort island. Jetstar also flies its Dreamliners to Bali.
“We’re delighted to be offering this game changing aircraft on services to some of our most popular long-haul leisure destinations,” said Jetstar’s CEO for Australia & New Zealand, David Hall.
“It’s a testament to the hard work and professionalism of our team that we’ve been able to launch four new 787 routes in the first 50 days of international operations.”
Jetstar will begin offering one weekly Dreamliner service between Melbourne and Phuket from 9 February 2014, before transitioning all three weekly flights to the aircraft from 30 March 2014. All three weekly services between Sydney and Phuket are currently operated using the B787.
Jetstar will progressively roll-out its 335-seat, two-class Dreamliners across its international network between now and 2015, replacing Airbus A330s on routes to Singapore, Tokyo, Osaka and Bangkok.
