Jetstar has deployed its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to Singapore for the first time.
The twin-aisle jet started operating the Melbourne-Singapore route on Thursday and will now fly five times a week between the two cities. The new aircraft will replace the Airbus A330 that has been deployed on the route since 2010.
“Five years ago, Jetstar was the first low fares airline to introduce long-haul flying with the Airbus A330-200 aircraft in Singapore and the two-class service was popular with both leisure and business travellers,” said Jetstar Asia’s CEO, Bara Pasupathi.
“The introduction of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner will mean a more consistent customer experience for Jetstar’s long-haul customers and also offer the airline substantial fuel savings and cost benefits to help us keep fares low,” he added.
Jetstar’s Dreamliner is configured with 335 seats in two classes.
