Korean Air has finalised an order for two Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
The order, which is valued at US$596 million at current list prices, expands the airline’s B777-300ER order book to six aircraft, and will eventually take the airline’s B777 fleet to 37 aircraft including 13 B777-300ERs.
“Korean Air has been a valued Boeing customer for over five decades and we are honoured the airline has again chosen the 777-300ER to expand its long-haul fleet,” said Ihssane Mounir, Boeing’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Greater China & Korea. “The 777-300ERs advanced technology and innovative features will continue to provide the airline with tremendous economics and reliability. Korean Air’s growing fleet of Boeing twin-aisle airplanes validates its commitment to excellence in flight.”
The Seoul-based carrier is in the midst of expanding its wide-body fleet. In addition to the seven B777s on order, Korean Air has ordered five B747-8 Intercontinentals, 10 B787-9 Dreamliners, seven Airbus A330-200s and five Airbus A380s.
The airline’s current B777-300ER aircraft seat 291 passengers in three classes – eight in first class, 56 in business class and 227 in economy.
