Skyscanner has identified destinations in India that have witnessed significant increase in flight searches for the
upcoming Independence Day (I-Day) long weekend.
The flight search data revealed that whilst Delhi and Mumbai recorded the highest increase in flight searches, it was Goa and Leh that immediately followed the political and commercial capitals of India. Goa displayed an impressive 58% increase in flight searches, whilst Leh was equally impressive at 57% increase in flight searches from most Indian cities.
Kavita Gnanamurthy, Skyscanner’s market development manager for India said, “Indians are looking forward to Independence day this year as the national holiday falls close to the weekend enabling travellers to make plans for quick getaways. In fact, our flight search data for the Independence Day weekend has revealed that besides the metropolises of Delhi and Mumbai, Indian travellers prefer extremes when it comes to the choice of a holiday destination. For instance, Leh is one of the largest districts in the country in terms of area and one of the coldest whilst Goa is the smallest state in India and warm all the year around.”
