London’s hotel sector reported increases in supply (+1.7%) and demand (+1.6%), a 6.5% increase in average daily rate to GBP163.94, and a 6.5% increase in revenue per available room to GBP146.29 in September, according to new data from STR Global.

The only negative result was a slight (0.1%) decrease in occupancy to 89.2%.

STR said performance in London was driven mainly by the Rugby World Cup, which began on 18 September and will run through the end of October.

Year-over-year RevPAR growth in the market moved into double figures on 16 September and remained in double figures for the duration of the month.
