Lufthansa will launch a new service between Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta next summer.

From the start of its summer timetable on 30 March 2014, the German national carrier will commence five weekly flights on the Frankfurt-KL-Jakarta route, using a 326-seat, three-class Airbus A340 aircraft.

Flights will depart Frankfurt every Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 2205, arriving in KL at 0405 the following day. The flight will then depart for Jakarta at 0525, arriving in the Indonesian capital at 0620.

On the return leg, every Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, flights will depart Jakarta at 1935, arriving in KL at 2235. The flight will then leave KL at 2355, getting back into Frankfurt at 0625 the following day.

“Indonesia and Malaysia are important countries for business and leisure travel and we are confident that our customers will appreciate the new travel opportunities to Southeast Asia and enjoy using them,” said Kay Kratky, a member of Lufthansa’s board. “We will be offering 127 weekly flights to 22 destinations in Asia in future.”

Prior to the new flights, Lufthansa served KL four times a week via Bangkok.
