Mӧvenpick Hotels & Resorts, recently purchased by Accor as part of the French company’s ongoing acquisition binge, has announced the opening of its very first property in the Maldives.
Found on private island in the Noonu Atoll — 45 minutes by sea plane, from Maldivian capital Malé — Mӧvenpick Resort Kuredhivaru Maldives has an impressive inventory, which includes a roll call of 105 villas and suites comprising 72 overwater pool villas, 30 beach pool suites and three beach spa pool residences, each with their own private plunge pool. Not to mention a tennis court, state-of-the-art gym and a water sports centre, as well as family friendly features like the Mӧvenpick Little Birds Club, offering a range of activities for all the family, as well as babysitting services.
Furthermore, with the regions reputation as one of world’s top dive sites, Mӧvenpick Resort Kuredhivaru also comes with a diving centre to organises snorkelling, house reef explorations and island cruises.
Patrick Basset, Accor’s chief operating officer in upper Northeast and Southeast Asia and The Maldives for AccorHotels, said: “Mӧvenpick Resort Kuredhivaru is one of the few properties located in the Noonu Atoll house reef, home to some of the most beautiful diving spots in the Maldives and offering guests a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in this vibrant and unspoiled marine life.”
Another stand-out feature is the exclusive beach pool spa residence with a spacious living area with resort views – the ideal venue for small weddings and private gatherings of up to 20 guests. “As the first Mӧvenpick property in the Maldives, the brand has been able to take a unique approach to sustainable development through the resort’s built-in solar panels, in-house water production and plant desalination to minimise its ecological impact on the environment,” said general manager Michael Melzer.
