Malaysia Airlines has revealed plans for a major makeover of its Golden Lounges.

The revamp will start this year with the overhaul of the airline’s regional and domestic Lounges at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, which are expected to be completed by the end of 2016. This will be followed by the business and first class lounges at the KLIA and London Heathrow, which will be finished by mid-2017.

The lounges will be equipped with new demonstration kitchens, allowing guests to see chefs in action, and a new fine dining experience in the first class lounge. The lounges’ Wi-Fi will also be upgraded to faster speeds, and universal power sockets will be added to give passengers more places to charge their electronic devices.

“Delivering a holistic experience for our guests which starts from the lounge lies at the heart of the redesign,” said Malaysia Airlines’ chief commercial officer, Paul Simmons.

“We want the space to encapsulate the richness of travel with the airline, a luxurious contemporary Malaysian style that our guests will be able to experience when they enter any Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge around the world. The new design will feature an expansive lounge where guests will find a world of amenities to help them recharge, relax or catch up with work.

“We are extremely excited about the project which marks the next phase of an exciting products and services roll-out to provide our customers with an enhanced travel experience,” he added.

Malaysia Airlines has employed KL-based interior design group Duoz for the project. Formed by twin brothers, Zaidan and Zaihan Tahir, Duoz has previously worked on projects for the Majestic Kuala Lumpur, Marriott Sydney Harbour and Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur.
