The Bangkok Thai boxing show, “Muay Thai Live: The Legend Lives”, won the Pacific Asia Travel Association’s 2017 PATA Gold Award in the Culture category (traditional performing and visual arts).
The winners were chosen by an international panel of experts, recognising 28 organisations and individuals for outstanding achievements in the travel and tourism industry in the Asia Pacific region.
“PATA itself is a recognised and well-respected organisation across the world. Hence, the award is considered prestigious and as a mark of excellence for the receiver – be it of any category,” said Viwan Karnasut, the show’s managing director.
“For ‘Muay Thai Live: The Legend Lives’, winning the PATA Gold Award is such an achievement and a great milestone for the show and our company, as well as a great honour for our country. Our objective of creating the show from the very beginning was to spread the awareness of the culture and heritage of this great nation, and our national sport which is Muay Thai.
“We see that it greatly contributes in terms of telling the story of Thailand in the area of martial arts. We want it to be known all around the world, and for the people who visit Thailand,” she added.
This year’s PATA awards attracted 220 entries from 77 organisations and individuals worldwide. The awards ceremony will take place in Macau on 15 September 2017 during the PATA Travel Mart 2017.
