Myanmar National Airlines has continued its recent modernisation strategy by agreeing to distribute its fares to international travel agents via the Amadeus GDS.
The Yangon-based airline, which recently launched its first international flight in 22 years, has signed a new distribution partnership with Amadeus, giving agents around the world access to its full range of fares.
“Our focus is on giving the country an airline that will be a strong competitive force in the region, worthy of flying the national flag,” said Captain Than Tun, CEO of Myanmar National Airlines.
“Bolstered by the partnership with Amadeus, this deal is a critical element in our plan enabling us to provide increased access to our beautiful country for millions of visitors across the world.”
In June 2015, Myanmar National Airlines took delivery of the first of a new fleet of modern Boeing 737 aircraft. It will also add six brand new ATR aircraft to its domestic fleet, and has taken steps to modernise its technology and website.
“Myanmar National Airlines has shown real commitment to build on its extensive history and experience in serving travellers in Myanmar and we are delighted they have chosen to partner with us to support their transformation and growth. Our technology will enable travel agents worldwide to book MNA flights easily and seamlessly. This agreement underlines our commitment to bringing the widest possible range of airline content to the Amadeus global network, and at the same time offer MNA unparalleled access to travel agents globally,” added Hazem Hussein, executive vice president of airline commercial at Amadeus Asia Pacific.
Following the launch of flights to Singapore on 17 August, Myanmar National Airlines plans to add four more international destinations within the Asia Pacific region by early 2016.
