Himalaya Airlines, the new Nepalese carrier, has started selling its fares via the GDS with Amadeus.

Under the new full content agreement, the Chinese-backed, Kathmandu-based carrier has agreed to distribute its fares, schedules and availability to travel agents using Amadeus. Agents booking via the GDS will be offered the same conditions as those using all other sales channels.

Himalaya Airlines launched its inaugural flight to Doha earlier this year, and has since started flying to Colombo. The airline is now planning to add routes to Delhi, Lhasa, Chengdu, Beijing, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Dammam in the coming months.

“Himalaya Airlines is only just starting out but we are very optimistic for the future. We truly believe we have an excellent product to offer at competitive prices, and we’re gearing up for growth with plans to expand our fleet and network,” said Vijay Shrestha, the airline’s vice president of administration.

“The travel agency channel is critical for us to be able to deliver our offering to travellers around the world, and we are confident we’ve made the best choice in selecting Amadeus as our first global distribution partner. Amadeus brings to the table an unmatched global network of travel agencies and industry expertise, and we are excited to work with them to grow our business.”

“We are committed to continually improve the content we offer to our travel agency network, and this agreement is proof of that. We are thrilled to partner with one of the region’s newest airlines, supporting their growth and bringing their new service offering to travellers around the world,” added Hazem Hussein, Amadeus’ executive vice president of airline commercial for Asia Pacific.

Himalaya Airlines joins more than 440 other airlines that are bookable via the Amadeus GDS system.
