London’s Heathrow Airport will be the location of Qantas’ next global lounge, with the construction on a new facility scheduled to start at Terminal 3 in September 2016.
The new lounge will occupy a split-level space overlooking the airfield, and will have capacity for approximately 230 people when it opens in early 2017. It will be open to Qantas Club members, first and business class passengers, and top frequent flyers with Qantas or its partner airlines.
“The Kangaroo Route is at the heart of Qantas’ identity and London remains one of our most important destinations,” said Alan Joyce, CEO of Qantas. “We want the first dedicated Qantas lounge at Heathrow to be something special.
“We’re very proud of the new lounges we’ve launched over the past three years in Singapore, Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Perth – with Brisbane to follow this year – and we’re excited to be bringing this successful formula to our customers in London.”
The new facility will feature a full-service bar and dining options, bathrooms with showers, business facilities and a children’s area.
Until the new Qantas lounge opens, eligible passengers will continue to have access to the BA and American Airlines lounges at Heathrow.
