New York City & Company has announced a new marketing push aimed at levelling out the city’s tourism numbers more equally between the six boroughs.
Manhattan, it was said, has been the overarching favourite for foreign visitors, often at the expense of areas like Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island.
The New York City & Company organisation – the city’s official tourism body – will be promoting each of the other four boroughs in a bid to increase their tourism numbers.
Long Island City (Queens) is the first to receive the push with a new website (http://www.nycandcompany.org/traveltrade) dedicated to giving travel agents more information regarding the area.
The website includes training materials, contacts within the organisation and ‘save the date’ a resource detailing all the upcoming holidays and best times to book.
There is also information on access routes, hotels and other attractions within the area.
