Oman Air has said it is open to more airline partnerships and a double daily service from London as it looks to build on the success of the last 20 years.
Speaking to Travel Daily, the airline’s chief commercial officer Abdulrazaq Alraisi said that while it waits for available slots at Heathrow the carrier is open to create more codeshare partnerships, some of which could feed traffic from regional UK airports to its London connection.
He also did not rule out Oman Air joining an airline alliance, after rival Qatar Airways became the first Gulf-based carrier to join one last month.
“We are open to joining an alliance, it is not a no, but it would be a matter of the right timing for us,” he said. “We are desperately looking at a slot at Heathrow so we can offer a double daily service. We are in discussion with partners to explore regional UK airports but our focus is London and the catchment areas.”
In the meantime the airline, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, is set to welcome 20 new aircraft in the next three years including 11 Boeing 737s; three Airbus A330s and six Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
