Oman Air welcomes second Boeing 737-900

The fleet expansion strategy of Oman Air is well on track with the arrival of its second Boeing 737-900. This new aircraft marks the beginning of a major three-year expansion programme. With the new addition, the total fleet size of the airline is 32 aircraft.

This is also the first of 24 aircraft which will arrive between now and 2018, taking total fleet number to around 50 aircraft.

Oman Air chief executive officer Paul Gregorowitsch said: “The new fleet will allow us to introduce more frequencies and improved connection times. There will also be opportunities to announce more destinations within our domestic and international networks.”

The new B737’s business class offers 12 seats in a 2-2 configuration while the economy cabin offers 150 seats. Short and medium-haul routes will be operated with the new aircraft covering the Middle East, Sub-Continent and East Africa.
