Orient Thai connects to GDS with Amadeus

Orient Thai Airlines will start to distribute its fares via the global distribution system (GDS), following a new partnership with Amadeus.
The Bangkok-based carrier is planning to expand its operations in the coming years, with new aircraft enabling it to launch new routes to Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Macau, Indonesia and Malaysia.
And in preparation for its expansion, the company will now start making its fares available to the travel trade and OTAs via the Amadeus GDS.
“Thailand has always been one of the top tourist destinations in Southeast Asia, and… we see strong potential for the country to attract even more travellers. We are growing as well, and as we look to expand our routes and carry more travellers to and from Thailand over the next few years, we recognise that the travel agency channel is critical,” said Peter Xiong, Orient Thai’s general manager of marketing. “As the largest global distribution system… Amadeus is an ideal partner and will help us achieve our ambitious growth targets.”
Hazem Hussein, executive vice president and head of the airline group at Amadeus Asia Pacific, commented; “We are honoured to be chosen by Orient Thai as their first global distribution system partner, supporting their transformation and growth. Orient Thai joins the ranks of 478 other airlines that are bookable via the Amadeus system. This agreement is yet another step forward in our commitment to bringing the widest possible range of airline content to our travel agency subscribers, including budget air travel options.”
Orient Thai currently operates a range of scheduled and charter flights, mainly linking Bangkok and Phuket with cities in China.
