Outrigger Hotels & Resorts has purchased two resorts in Fiji.
The Hawaii-based resort company has acquired a complete shareholding in the ownership company of Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji and Castaway Island Fiji – a private island resort only accessible by boat or helicopter.
“This acquisition is consistent with the strategic growth of Outrigger in the Asia Pacific region,” said David Carey, president & CEO of Outrigger Enterprises Group. “With over 66 years of experience in tropical resort destinations, our full acquisition of these two beautiful, absolute beachfront properties fits perfectly with our expansion strategies,” he added.
Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji is set on a 140-hectare plot of beachfront land on Fiji’s coast, one hour’s drive from Nadi International Airport. It offers a series of low-rise hotel rooms and suites, swimming pools, restaurants and recreational facilities.
Castaway Island Fiji meanwhile, is set of a private island 30km off the coast of Viti Levu. It features 66 thatched bungalows, two swimming pools, four restaurants and bars, a wide range of watersports including a PADI scuba diving centre.
The two properties will now be operated by Outrigger from its Asia Pacific head office in Phuket. They add to the company’s existing properties either operating or under development in Australia, Guam, Bali, Phuket, Phi Phi Island, Mauritius, Hainan Island and Vietnam.
