The landing gear of Jet Airways plane collapsed when it touched down at Mumbai Airport on Thursday evening.
All 120 passengers and eight crew members onboard the Delhi-Mumbai flight had to be evacuated from the stricken aircraft, but no injuries were reported. The incident led to the blocking of the main runway, forcing the Mumbai authorities to migrate flight operations to a secondary runway.
The Hindu quoted the airline saying that “Jet Airways flight 9W 354 on landing in Mumbai reported a technical fault with the main landing gear. All 127 passengers have been safely disembarked.”
The incident is believed to have occurred after a tyre burst upon tochdown, which led to a hydraulic fault with the landing gear.
