Philippine Airlines will increase the frequency of its ManilaSydney route next month.

Effective 25 October, the national carrier will operate daily flights to Australia’s largest city, up from the current five flights per week.

“A daily frequency with a choice of departure and arrival times provides our passengers the flexibility to seamlessly connect to many cities on PAL’s domestic and international network,” said PAL’s president & chief operating officer, Jaime J. Bautista.

“Upon arrival in Manila, Australian business and leisure travellers can enjoy a Manila stopover for several days or make a same-day connection on PAL flights to the many travel spots within the Philippine archipelago.”

The launch of the extra flights coincides with the 50th anniversary PAL’s Sydney operations, which began in October 1965. Jaime Bautista and other PAL executives will fly to Sydney to mark the occasion.

Sydney is one of four Australian destinations currently served by PAL, along with Darwin, Brisbane and Melbourne. And the airline plans to launch flights to Cairns in December 2015, in a route that will continue to Auckland.
