China’s Plateno Hotels has unveiled plans to expand Thailand with the launch of its first upscale Portofino property in the kingdom.

The new Portofino Chiang Mai Business Park is set to open in March 2016, offering 122 rooms and suites, all with free Wi-Fi, plus a swimming pool, restaurant, bar, gym and meeting rooms.

This will become Plateno’s second property in Chiang Mai, following the launch of its 7 Days budget brand in the northern Thai city.

And the company will continue to expand across Thailand, following the signing of a master franchise agreement with Aspira Hospitality for the launch of multiple 7 Days-branded hotels.

Plateno Hotels Group was recently acquired by Jin Jiang International to create one of the world’s largest hotel groups.
