Qantas has significantly boosted its network in North America, following the expansion of its codeshare agreements with American Airlines, WestJet and Alaska Airlines.
Effective 25 October, the partnerships will see Qantas add new 40 routes across the US, Canada and Mexico, taking its total number of codeshare routes in North America to more than 200, covering 100+ destinations.
Some of the key new routes offered include Los Angeles-Philadelphia (with American Airlines), Los Angeles-Vancouver (American), Los Angeles-Mexico City (American), San Francisco-Phoenix (American) and San Francisco-Palm Springs (with Alaska Airlines). With WestJet, Qantas will add 25 Canadian city pairs from Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto.
“The new codeshare services will allow our customers to enjoy more connections across North America, Canada and Mexico from our Los Angeles and new San Francisco gateways and have their luggage checked straight through to their final destination,” said Qantas International’s CEO, Gareth Evans.
“With the launch of our non-stop flights to San Francisco later this year, we’ve identified an opportunity to position this port as another key US hub for Qantas customers by extending the codeshares we already have in place.”
Qantas currently operates 37 direct weekly flights to Los Angeles, Dallas and Honolulu, plus daily one-stop flights to New York and seasonal services to Vancouver. And from December, the airline will start offering five weekly flights to San Francisco, ramping up to six flights per week in January 2016.
