Qantas has launched an additional 1,700 weekly seats between Melbourne and Tasmania.
The airline has boosted three routes to the island state, with extra capacity in routes to Hobart, Launceston and Devonport, using its regional subsidiary QantasLink.
The Melbourne-Hobart route has been raised from twice to three times a day, while services on the Melbourne-Launceston route have increased from 17 to 28 per week. Extra capacity has also been added on the Melbourne-Devonport route following the introduction of a larger Bombardier Q400 aircraft.
”QantasLink’s new Q400 aircraft services between Melbourne and Hobart will complement Qantas’ Boeing 737 services operating on the route to give travellers more options throughout the day,” said QantasLink’s Executive Manager, John Gissing. “Launceston and Devonport will also benefit, with more seats now available to-and-from-Melbourne through an increased flight schedule and upgrades to the larger Q400 aircraft.”
The Qantas Group, comprising Qantas, QantasLink and Jetstar, now operates more than 230 weekly services to Tasmania.
