QANTAS opens updated business lounge at Changi Airport

Australian carrier QANTAS announced that it flung open the doors of its newly expanded, refurbished and updated Business Lounge this week.

Qantas International Acting CEO Mr Naren Kumar said the lounge investment was part of the Australian national carrier’s commitment to improve the experience for customers travelling through Asia.

“Singapore remains Qantas’ largest hub outside of Australia. About fifty percent of the Qantas Group’s international capacity is now dedicated to Asia, up from around thirty per cent eight years ago,” said Mr Kumar.

“The return of our Singapore hub has seen strong demand for travel in premium cabins. Representing an overall capacity increase of sixty percent, our multi-million-dollar investment in an expanded Business Lounge and new First Lounge will ensure a comfortable experience for our customers travelling through the region.”

Stretched across 2239 sqm, the new space is capable of hosting more than 570 guests who can wile away the time before boarding by relaxing on the lounges new banquette seating and grazing on chicken laksa and roast pork belly – freshly prepared by the lounges own chef.

The expansion of the Business Lounge will be followed by the opening of a new First Lounge in Singapore later this year. With both Singapore lounges up and running the airline will be able to offer  accommodate more than 800 customers.

Key features include:

  •  Vibrant and elegant design, with architectural features influenced by Singapore o Neil Perry menus based on his Rockpool food philosophy, with dishes inspired by regional cuisine
  • Dining options include the plate of the day at the communal dining area, dishes from the live cooking station, an extensive buffet and snacks at the bar.
  • Spice Temple inspired cocktails are available alongside a premium Australian wine selection and barista service
  • Service by Sofitel in line with Qantas’ First Lounges in Sydney, Melbourne and Los Angeles with20 showers, 80-inch television screens and flexible working, relaxing and dining areas throughout.
